ROB DOWLING, LMT

About Me

I graduated from Potomac Massage Training Institute, an accredited 500-hour program including coursework in Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, Practical Application of Massage, and Ethics. I passed the certification exam of the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork in 1999. I am licensed by the State of Maryland, and I am a professional member of the American Massage Therapy Association. I fulfill the continuing education requirements of these organizations regularly.

Prior to my training in massage, I worked as a physical therapy aide. This experience made me aware of the need for more personal hands-on work, which massage therapy enables me to do. Through massage, I am able to help facilitate physical and mental improvement for the client.

I like to do personalized sessions geared toward the specific needs of the client at the time of their session. I accomplish this by discussing with my client just prior to their session their current issues, needs and overall health.

"You really respond to my needs and adjust your work accordingly..."

The two types of massage that I build from are Swedish Massage, otherwise known as “relaxing” or “therapeutic” massage, and Deep-tissue Massage.  I incorporate aspects of the different types of techniques I have learned through my training.

I have been certified in Level I and Level II of Connective Tissue Massage, which is also known as Myofascial Massage. This technique manipulates the fascial tissue which encases and connects the body parts, including muscles, tendons, organs, etc. The resulting benefit is more elasticity and the body’s ability to move more freely and with decreased pain and stiffness.

"I have been receiving massage for over 25 years, and no one has been as detailed as you are!"
